How to work through it
- 1Filter to sites that suit your business, and tick "Checked by hand only" to start with the reliable ones.
- 2Sort by DR and work down from the top. Prepare your name, description, logo and screenshots once and reuse them.
- 3Use the same business name, address and phone number everywhere. Mismatches are what hurt.
- 4Log every submission and its login in one sheet, so you can update the listings later.
Does directory submission still help SEO?
Partly, and it is worth being clear about which part. Google’s spam policies name low-quality directory links as link spam, and most good directories mark their links nofollow, so a pile of directory links will not move your rankings on its own.
What good listings do is put you where buyers and AI assistants look: review sites, launch platforms, business profiles. They send referral traffic, they confirm your business details, and they give search engines more places that agree on who you are. That is why the list is filtered for quality rather than padded with every site that accepts a form.

Which directories should I submit to first?
Filter to what suits your business, tick "Checked by hand only" and sort by DR. A local business should start with Google Business Profile and the business listings. A software product should start with the launch platforms and the review sites.
What do DR, dofollow and nofollow mean?
DR is Ahrefs’ Domain Rating, a 0 to 100 estimate of a site’s link strength. The figures here are as reported by the source lists, not measured by us. A dofollow link can pass ranking value to your site; a nofollow link usually does not, though it still brings visitors.
How many of the directories are free?
187 are free or have a free plan. 22 are paid only, 35 are publications you pitch, and the rest have not had their pricing confirmed.
Is there a list for local businesses in India?
Yes. Choose "Local business (India)" in the Suits filter for 7 Indian listing sites, and "Any business" for the global ones such as Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple Business.
Can I download the list?
Yes, as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets. There is no email form in front of it.
How up to date is it?
The sites marked "Checked by hand" were visited in October 2026. Directories close and change their pricing often, so check the submit page before you rely on a detail.
